voltage tested some the charging system. Houston we may have a problem here.
36 degree day.

12.3v on all batteries before engine start

while car warming up
crank 13.75v
2nd 13.6v
3rd 13.5v
scanguage 14.0v


car warm, light bar, high beam, 1 radiator fan on (max power draw without fridge)
crank 13.05v
2nd 12.9v
3rd 12.9v
scanguage 13.4v




car warm, lights n fans off
crank 13.5v
2nd 13.4v
3rd 13.3v
scan guage 13.8v


alternator temp 90 degrees.

alternator voltage output not good enough.


time to replace alternator?

i feel disappointed in the results.

My nanocom shows 13.6 to 13.9 after start up of around 14 to 14.2

I know mine is no Ls but with a new alt and 2 new Optima batteries .
In the morning can read upto 14.7 v then settle around 13.8 v -14.0 v.

On the way home in the Arvo temps up and over 30 degree`s can read as low as 13.3v with nothing drawing except the engine and radio
My trip to work and back is half a hour each way at highway speeds
