The car started first time the next morning, no issues at all. A couple of the other D2s struggled to start. Looks can be deceptive to the non scientific eye. [tonguewink]
That is the temp from the external thermometer on the car. about 400mm above ground. The snow could still be below freezing. Or the snow could be at zero and melting very very slowly with the water draining down, out of sight. It will still look frozen and you would need a time lapse camera to record any change.
I left the IR thermometer at home. I'll have another go at Connors Plain in a few weeks time.

Adjusted the hand brake by adjusting the cable on the 2002 .
What a PITA.
RAVE shows this nice arrangement with an adjuster under the lever. NOPE there are two nuts under the floor , one on the cable and one is the adjuster. In virtually no room you have to hold one nut while turning the other 22mm nut.
naturally I dropped the spanner next to my eye causing claret to flow.
And the bloody nut does not turn easily. Maybe next time I might take the pin out and drop the cable.
It cannot be any harder.
Add that to the impossible oil filter and the plastic bumpers.

Oh and to take off the gaiter on the handbrake ( checking if RAVE was correct and I was doing it the hard way) you have to remove the switch panel. My switch panel has been attacked by a gorilla and most of the mounts are broken off. The cover plate had all the spikes broken off so I spent a bit of time drilling the front panel to attach it to the switch base with screws.
Anyone have an intact switch mounting panel?

Hi Philip A, I did mine today and realised at the end that it can be done without removing the switch panel. Those gaiters from The tuning-Shop are great.

Well yes, but my gaiter has the steel spring thingo on it which I think I switched from the original.

When pushing it back in, the switch support panel slipped below the rim on the console. The only way to retrieve it was to undo the whole panel. The mounting point next to the hand brake is completely missing from Gorillas.

Anyway, I was able to support it a bit better as I drilled the face plate and screwed into the existing raised holes which made the under panel a bit more rigid. All the pins on mine were gone so I used my soldering iron to place holes in the centre of the bosses in the face plate then drilled holes exactly in the centre of the remaining bit of the bosses after I had cut them off flush..
