is there is no real difference, then why do it?
AFAIK the thermostat rating is the point when it starts to open. The poms wanted to warm up the heater core as quickly as possible, hence the original thermostats being set relatively high.
The real test is (or should be), at what temperature does it fully open?
Getting ready for the weekend trip to Renmark and Adelaide, have to pick up the father of the bride at 6.00am Sunday morning and get him to Renmark for the wedding. Topped up the gearbox 400ml in 2,000km's. Greased the drive shafts and uni's and found the mystery centre bearing people where talking about, didn't even know i had one until know! Quick scrub over with the broom and hose. All ready to go.
My demister works fine even at 60 degrees c with AC on. In colder weather my 82 degree inline top hose stat with an extra sensor hole doesnt allow the vehicle to get past about 70-75 but in traffic or on the highway it goes to 80 to 82. Either way its sweet for these older style motors. Fuel economy is at least as good as when it was burning its ring off in the mid to high 90's stock. At some stage before next winter I will put in a new 82 degree thermostat but leave the stock sensor hole (i previously put another one in - drilled it - to allow for easier bleeding). Cheers.
The Disco woke us up at 2:47am with the horn continuously sounding. WTF! Didn’t turn off with remote nor starting it... touch the left horn button in a panic and it clicks back to off position and all goes quiet....🤫
With cooling of night the switch must have contacted some how. The wife had been driving it all day, the button must have become stuck under the surround.
I think the Disco hates her.
10 seconds of panic that no-one needed.
Mate, I was camped up infront of the Disco in 100kph winds a few weeks ago, had been first responder to a fatal head on that night, so sleeping wasn’t easy. Exhausted, finally blacked out then .... BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. Wind triggered alarm. Those horns are LOUD!
New low km alternator fitted. Apparently charging was too much of a chore for the old one. Still, better in town than in the middle of nowhere.
