Finally got around to doing the passenger side ball joints, from 9hrs down 4.5hrs! Made some pipe sleeves with 6mm end caps, had the G clamp wound up super tight then bash with a big hammer! Tightest ball joints on a car i ever done. Found the rear tie rod arm is stuffed both ends so need to do that before i can get a wheel alignment done.
Took it for a good run to get up to temp and test the repair to the radiator overflow spigot. Seems to be holding- fingers crossed but backed up by the low coolant alarm.
Tried to to change the ACE filter after all the work I've done on that system. Couldn't move the cover. Will get back to that one later with a bit of heat maybe.
I had the fuel regulator replaced ,no more diesel leaks or hope thy have gone
After 7 years and 100k km I replaced the rear brake pads. Had a squeaking noise from right side and then a couple of days ago sensed heat in rear right when got back from a short 20km round trip. Put ir temp gun at brake disk and got over 200 Celsius on rear right and about 80 on the others. Pulled brake pads and wheel spun ok (phew). Caliper slider was gummed up a bit so cleaned it all out (slide and cavity) and regreased with a high temp bearing grease (correct grease?). Pads were half used on one pad and only about 2mm left on other but at a slight angle front to back. New pads in both sides (and greased slides both sides) and so far good.
Is that life of pad good, bad, normal? Is my use of high temp bearing grease correct for caliper slides?
