Well Pedro, I've bought Derales for both TD5's but now not sure if I should fit them or not.

    Ashcrofts say
    150° F / 66° C
The minimum operating temperature. Note: It is possible in low ambient temperatures to overcool the transmission with auxiliary oil to air coolers. Oil to water coolers in standard factory radiators will normally not overcool a transmission.

My D2a with a "proper" additional ATF cooler rarely get above 60 C, so even allowing for another 10 degrees actual operating temp 'cos the sensor is at the back of the pan, it rarely gets anything more than warmed up. In theory the Derale will expedite temps reaching about 180F, but I'm still questioning if I want it to get that warm?

    Again from Ashcrofts

    175-200° F /
    77 - 93° C
Normal pan oil temperature operating range.
Having done 270K on the D2a auto, with no suggestion of wearing out yet (that just kyboshed it, didn't it Murphy), I think I'm just procrastinating.

The RRC has a just rebuilt 4HP 24, but no additional cooler yet for proposed towing - so mother, what do I do?????

    Oops - I think I've just highjacked a thread.

the cynic in me says that first blurb means you can still overheat it,,,

anyway its worth a shot and easily reversable if required.

Once I have the new trans cooler in and the AN hoses sorted I am going to monitor the auto trans temp the consider if I should put in the Derale thermostat.
Where are you thinking of placing it? In between standard cooler and the additional cooler?

Can't comment on the DBC, but my Projecta battery charger is still going strong after 10 years, so I think Projecta quality is good.
