A horrible car. No head rests for the rear passengers. A thirsty 3.6L v6, 18mpg on the freeway. No auto climate control!!!! Handles like a piece of ****. No audio controls on the steering wheel. Trip computer was ok.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Haha. My D2 4.6 only gets 18mpg on the freeway but constant 4wd, lugged tyres, full load, roof stuff.

    Cheers

    Care Package from Roverlord

The rear RHS Bumper trim arrived, along with the trim bit that sits at the bottom of the panel behind the mudguard. Also the sun visor clip that one young son broke and three screws for the "boot" door. I have been unsuccesful in removing these screws and I have only managed to gouge out craters with an easy out.

Any ideas on the screw removal?

    TIA

Had a front end knock, today found the top front shocker nalothene bush disintegrated under the coolant bottle, they aren’t that old either, anyway a trip to Redcliffe to pickup genuine bushes.
The drivers side tower is painful to remove with Ace pipes where they are.

New lift plus a few bits and pieces

I installed a 2" lift into the disco this afternoon - very happy with the results, it lifted the poor sad and sagged girl 2 and 3/4 inches! She looks a bit fresher now!

Also put on a half ARB roof rack, some rhino bars and my awning.... a job that had been on the back burner for a rainy day (it finally arrived in Adelaide today!)

Now the next task.... my exhaust is rubbing on the chassis causing a horrible noise at idle, so I need to get to the bottom of that. The engine mounts were my first suspicion, but upon inspection they look fine with no rubber protruding out the bottom.

I had the exhaust unbolted in the engine bay a while ago whilst I was chasing an oil leak. Even since I put it back together its too close to the chassis and vibrates at idle.

A good Saturday job I guess.

Last week-end I replaced the rear brake pads, found one side disc rotor was badly scoured so I have ordered new rear rotors.
This week I puled the front wheels off To check the front brake pads which have heaps of meat on them so I have a set of front pad for when they do need replacing.
While I had the car on blocks & the wheels off I noticed the front diff had some oil on it. A bit of exploration found a that at some stage someone had welded a knock in the diff & that there is a tiny pin hole beside the weld. Checked the diff oil, down a tiny bit, refilled, organised one of my staff to bring in his welder to fix the pin hole for the price of a pouch of tobacco.
I will get the diff replaced sometime when I'm in civilisation, whenever that may be?
More of a worry I found that at the front of the brake rotor there is a rod held on with some bloody great bolt & nut, this is packed with several rubber washers/bushes which have all perished & are only partly existent. So I guess at sometime I will have to get that replaced, the bolt looks beyond my limited capabilities.
These cars are fun, aren't they.

It is probably wise to drain and replace the oil in the diff you had welded and while you are at it do the same to the rear diff and the transfer case if you haven't changed the oils for a while.
Much cheaper and easier to replace the oil than the diffs or transfer case and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg either
Don't know about the errant bolt though that sounds "Nasty"

I got the go ahead from my insurance company to get the rear end fixed and the windscreen and all the associated broken plastic bits and pieces as well
She goes in to Whyatts on Thursday so she will be as flash as a rat with a gold tooth over Xmas

All sorted.... the bolts connecting the first muffler were tightened in the wrong sequence, which saw the exhaust run on the chassis. Simple 5 minute fix when the issue was identified... this simple stuff rarely happens, but I’m happy it did today.
