Traveled to Cooroy to see Rob at Chapmans Dyno Tuning,, and he was interested enough to talk about my umm,, problem,,,

Hopefully there will be dyno charts PULP Vs LPG,,
though this is Waaaaay down the list of outcomes

The Number One outcome needed is for the car to run properly on LPG,,

    Newer rear shocks

The Disco was driven, by the learner driver to Ferntree Gully via the ring road, (got to get those hours up) to collect a pair of rear shockers. Thanks to SPROVER. The the disco was driven home by the learner driver on a more direct route. At home the noisy shock was replaced. It's so nice not to have that annoying clunk clunk clunk.
As for changing the bushes on the Pedders, the current bush has only a concave rubber part that fits into the shocker. I though that the inner and outer part would be metal like the Land Rover ones. We live and learn.

    Cheers all

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

    No faults

Connected Nanocom to my D2a V8 today, no faults anywhere
Had been getting 3 amigos coming on randomly, reversing down my steep driveway, driving along the street, no apparent reason. Nanocom showed something like "shuttle valve electrical failure" (can't remember exact wording) so 3 days back I pulled the ABS relay and swapped it for one of the others. Seems to have fixed it somehow.

    Today started project Red Dog

    Hi There,
bought Red Dog maybe four months ago now, done 482,000 klms so just nicely run in. Bought knowingly with a dodgy gearbox and appropriately priced. The "master gearbox overhaul kit" has now arrived from Ashcroft transmissions who have been excellent.

Got underneath today and there are a few oil leaks, only to be expected, especially around the back of the engine up near the head, drivers side.

Drained the oil out of the gearbox and you can see below the drain plug........... just feel the joy.

I suspect I'll take the head off when I've overhauled the gearbox and transfer case, get rid f al the oil leaks, Oh and I'll take the sump off that looks decidedly moist when the sump meets the block. I'll checl the oil pump nut whilst I'm at it.

This is a one owner from new this one and he tells me the head has never been off, some achievement that is.

Should get the gearbox and transfer case off tomorrow.

Easy to fix leaks on engine with it out, that little oil hose that goes to alternator may be weeping, there is an O ring that lives between the power steering mount and block, do the crank seals too.

The last owner must have been easy on it.

Hi Marty, looks neat , that's, a great run , especially with plastic head dowels ,as stevo said , he must have looked after it. I know it would add to the budget , but it would be worth considering an engine freshen up including rings , big ends, mains , valves etc , also timing and oil pump chains also chain guides as these would almost certainly have worn out, also engine mounts, what's the blow by like?. I guess a good second hand low kilometre engine is an option, depending on if its eu2 or eu3. Looks like a good project .
