Yup trans cooler hose seems to happen to everyone at some time...just a case of when and where and what damage it does😐
Mine was on a highwsy at 110kph and yes the tranny was ruined too. A very expensive very poorly made hose fitting indeed!

SupporterThe wife (TD5) & I (V8) have a disco each, saves arguments over who's driving. On Friday heading down country (for 4 days of off road tracks) the super reliable TD5 decided to trash its clean slate in spectacular fashion by dumping auto fluid all over everything. The swage fitting on the flexi hose bit of the oil cooler line came out. A bit shocking I thought until I read online that no, not really! The car was sent home in disgrace. Saturday saw us topping out at 1644m
on the mountain track just starting the down hill when my disco blew a radiator hose and hissed water everywhere. My mate was in the lead and as the track down hill is only just wide enough so had to free wheel down hill with transfer box in neutral and the engine off. Fun times. Picture shows my disco before it misbehaved.

The cover on my Tailgate handle has been broken in 2 & held together with Gaffer tape for many months.
Wednesday a good 2nd hand one arrived by post & today I replaced it.
The car looks much betterer & SWMBO looked at it & said about time.
BTW Which LR idiot decided to put 1 fitting nut behind the tailgate lock & leave no room to do it up?
Lucky I have kids with skinny little hands.

All of them!
I'm convinced that they have(had) a committee of these sadistic evil genius engineer types concocting up methods to thwart DIY types with that type of insanity!
I think they're also called upon by LR management to help them to invent silly specialised tool requirements to remove/fit simple bits and bobs where other cars just use standard tools.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Nothing new about silly bolt locations and special tools and it's got a lot worse with newer cars. Wasteful componentry too with unitary parts such as having to buy whole hubs to replace a worn and much cheaper bearing.
Look at mercs and vws who corner servicing by not releasing tools/codes etc to cancel service alarms thereby frustrating indies. Governments elsewhere have acted on this monopolisation..but not in Aus😐
Disco Dan had a bit of a cleanup and cleanout over the weekend.
Tomorrow off to DazzaTD5 for a hopefully commission based move to a new loving owner.
After all you really can't support 3 landies on a pension, can you? One does need to eat occasionally, doesn't one!
