A year ago I fitted a new brown & Davis long range tank. When fitting I saw the loop in the tank vent then & thought “that’s stupid why did LR put that there?”. So I cut it off! Bad move! So I finally got around to fitting the replacement loop.

The hardest part is drilling the holes, where access is limited. Something like this would be wonderful.

Is it inappropriate to reply to your own post...
Anyway thanks for the responses....
Full multi gauge kit and screen, V2.
Due to the rush to install and get on the road.. Mind you the unit has been on the shopping list for 12 months, purchased various adapters over that time and unit in Dec (2018).
I will compose a full list of adapters with photos on the laptop but whilst it’s quiet and I am on the phone....(and edits)
Trans temp see previous posts... installed an adapter into a bung for the 1/8 npt sensor (eBay M14x1.5 to 1/8npt adapter)
Coolant inline adapter from eBay (38mm with1/8npt) cut and shut into main top hose (yes with a sharp Stanley knife but good clamps)
Oil pressure inserted a through adapter so original switch sensor still fits and 1/8 npt Ts off to side (original is M10x1.0)
Also installed the boost sensor, that was easy, T (provided fits perfectly) into the 4mm hose and clamp with small zip ties... but didn’t reconfigure the display so didn’t see the fluctuations ...
Yet to install EGT and IAT but have a plan.
Today the system ran awesome...
Fully loaded, 2 kids, bikes, camper trailer, 2 Engels pulled up the SE freeway out of Adelaide..... coolant Maxed at 101c, trans 94c, oil press 280kpa... at 3000rpm, 60km/hr ......
400km later in ambient of 35/36c and ..
no leaks!!!!!
Like Pedro said... ‘You will find yourself driving to the temps...’
Now I am not afraid to hold it flat for longer
Will reconfigure the display to also give me oil temp (which I installed in the trans with the alarm set at 120c), coolant temp (alarm set ate 105c), oil press and primary battery voltage.... on the one screen
Happy to share, but having fun with kids over the next few days.... and the wife who accepted a new job whilst in the mobile during the drive.... despite the rhetorical.... how much did that thing cost? .... coolant temp was 89c, trans was 80c, oil press 280kpa....everything was normal!!!!
There is a satisfaction that comes with achieving normality..... Helped by beer from a 2c Engel
DDM[/QUOTE]Did you get a chance to post this update yet ? I'm still interested, as I have a few $$$ that I've been saving up and I need to either buy one of these or a nanocom ...

SupporterD'you mind if I give a shout out to the 1Gauge system(just in case you don't know of it.
What motor is your D2?
1Gauge comes complete, does basically most of what DDM's setup does, except the hot laps stuff!
Basically does 7 gauges with the aux battery(option), so in effect 6 plus voltages.
But if you already have volt gauges, you can configure it to do 6 sensors of whatever else you want.
Gives you alarms(visual and audible), also has (I think 2) relays, plus a couple of other auto activating sensing.
~$500 basically complete, 3.5" LCD screen(with some colour options). Easy to fit, complete with all sensors you need(eg. if you want EGT for a TD5, also has the probe for that too .. etc. etc.
All you end up needing are a few adapters to fit your plug fittings.
if you're interested in it, I did a basic writeup of the 1gauge in the D1 section.
Arthur.

Hi All, Finally mounted the screen the other week after installing before Easter.
Some additional photos and description on how it has worked out....

Fits nicely to the left of the driver/under dash area and can still open the under dash access door, where I mounted the main computer with zip ties.

Taking this photo highlighted a coolant leak from the exhaust manifold!
Haven't used any coolant since I installed this multi-gauge?!
(wish I could rotate that image)
Also installed the boost sensor, that was easy, T (provided fits perfectly) into the 4mm hose and clamp with small zip ties.
Yet to install EGT and IAT but have a plan.
Does anyone have an Td5 wrecking with the intake manifold extension to blank the EGT?
It can also take a 2nd voltage reading from a second battery, but I don't have one
Over the Easter school holidays trip the system ran awesome...
Adelaide to Coonawarra, to Grampians to Melbourne and return over Easter school holidays it really demonstrated the Td5 is running well. Touch wood!!
Fully loaded, 2 kids, bikes, camper trailer, 2 Engels pulled up the SE freeway out of Adelaide..... coolant Maxed at 101c, trans 94c, oil press 280kpa... at 3000rpm, 60km/hr ......

I think my previous trans temp gauge was over reading by about 20-30 degrees!
The Disco has a strange surge when at full throttle on the freeway pulling up hill in 3rd at say 3000-3200 rpm... looking at the Boost it seemed to be developing from the waste gate, opening and closing.
It doesn't happen in 2nd at 3500rpm.
I had noticed since installing that the battery prior to starting had a back ground voltage of 12.1 and this dropped to 11.1 last week and it is now dead!
Alternator is pumping out 14.3 when running.
Like Pedro said... ‘You will find yourself driving to the temps...’

I have now reconfigured the display to also give me oil temp (which I installed in the trans with the alarm set at 120c), coolant temp (alarm set ate 105c), oil press, boost and primary battery voltage on the one screen.

SubscriberCastrol made a fortune out of me today. New oils - all of them. New filters - again, all of them. Lotsa grease wherever I could find grease nipples. Lost the 10mm socket that I found the other day - Td5's must like a steady diet of 10mm sockets I think.
The only DRAMA was getting the old full flow filter off. Whoever put it on must've had the assistance of a large gorilla with very small hands. A normal strap wrench doesn't quite fit so I borrowed one of these. RS PRO Steel Oil Filter Wrench 50.8 → 101.6 mm | RS Components which made short work of it...:-)
The local stealer who did the head replacement, about 8k km's ago also left me with a stripped centrifugal filter bolt. Helicoil to the rescue...
The air filter was quite spectacular - I vacuumed about a cup full of red dirt out of the unfiltered side but the turbo side was dust free and clean so it's been doing its job well.
Next job, glow plugs.
Cheers,
Mark F...

SubscriberAhh - none of them are working. It's a real hard starter on cold mornings - takes about 15 or 20 seconds of cranking before it sort of clatters into life and takes another 15 or 20 seconds to settle down to a nide even Td5 clatter. All four glow plugs are open circuit.
If I don't use the car until about lunch time it generally starts no problem. This malarkey started about a year ago in Alice Springs on really cold mornings but it started OK once the day had warmed up a bit.
Cheers,
Mark F...
