Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Nice, how did you route the cable into the cabin - a hole and grommet through the roof ?

Yes through that grommet, It was a weird grommet though and it had a square hole in the roof.
I drilled it round and fitted a new rubber grommet and used plenty of silicone to keep the water out.

I dug it out with a screwdriver, It was pretty brittle seeing that it has been there for the last 16 years.
I then drilled out the hole to make it bigger and round so that I could fit a new round rubber grommet for the wires to pass through.
A lick of paint a new grommet and plenty of silicone made for a nice waterproof fitting

Is that Silicone holding the mounts on? What happened to your Discovery 2 today?
Please tell me it’s either got screws as well.

What was the grommet there for originally? I cannot remember if the D2 had a ‘factory’ anything up there.

Its Sikaflex NO screws into the roof only through the mounts onto the panel.
I have done the same before on a Navara roof and the panel stayed rock solid even at speed, That Sikaflex is bloody amazing stuff

Cool... the first image, it must be the light, it looks like translucent silicone What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

I’ve seen a van owner do it (cheap out and go Silicone) and panels came off as a truck passed. I just missed them (x3)
