The Steinbauer chip goes into limp mode if the temperature gets too hot, to save the engine from overheating.
It's a five kilometre steep climb, for those that don't know it.
37°c is not hot. Certainly confirms my feelings about intercept boxes (credit it did de-rate) however the engine should have had no problems dealing with that temperature and powering up that hill.

    It’s only over 10% for about 1.5km...

Should have done it easy What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Did it twice earlier in the week towing a trailer loaded with mulch, but it was a bit cooler then.

Had a couple of pretty dodgy roundabout and other intersection experiences around town. Just won't rev until vehicle has rolled into intersection then slowly builds before turbo seems to spool up and takes off.
Temps are really hot though, talking 43-45 over the last few days.
Hot air is less dense - but it seems that something else is going on to cause that degree of throttle response hesitation ....

What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Recently my brother’s D2 Td5 auto, whilst country driving suddenly lost drive and coasted to a stop accompanied by metallic sounds from bellow. The Engine was fine, he just had no drive no matter what he did with the transfer box or AT shifter. Finding no oil underneath and drive shafts all intact all he could do was order-up a flat top. Today he got the verdict from the mechanic - the picture tells it all ....

A new flex plate/drive plate is required - could have been worseWhat happened to your Discovery 2 today?

    Ouch.

About to order some bits from Ashcroft's and a HD flex plate is on the list.

He says that there was no warning - but I reckon tgat there would have been a pre-existing crack (my guess is circled in blue) from which the destruction ensued ... in the end it was rotational force that ‘peeled’ it apart.

    All grownup.

I think my Disco is all grown up, no longer wetting the road or parking spaces with oil. The rocker cover gasket replacement worked.
