I’d like to think it is because i took the trouble to “pot” the wire to pin connections in new harness socket with high temperature oil resistant silicone type filler, however time will tellWhat happened to your Discovery 2 today?
    Hi onebob,
Do you remember what brand Silicone you used at the time? I'm about to commence "operation injector loom"......

Yes, I used Permatex RIGHT STUFF gasket maker Black. Temperature range -59degC to 232degC continuous or up-to 260degC intermittent. Resists ATF, coolant, engine oil and is sensor safe.

Pop the disc off the top of your new injector loom plug and fill the void with goop and snap the disc back on and wipe away the ooze..

Picture below is of my old harness plug with disc removed and oil drained.

When you “pot” the new plug be generous with the sealant make sure that you get ooze from the side entry where wires enter the plug and from the holes in the disc, and then you can be sure of a 100% barrier seal. If you have oil in the ECU plug the oil will continue to seep out for some time before it eventually ceases, check and clean the plug regularly, my ECU plug has been dry for years now... or you can remove the entire engine harness and wash it out with shellite - I did not go to that extra length.....

The temp did get to 93 going over a railway bridge in third at 70kph, and when stuck at traffic lights the temp hits 94-95. This is of course with the AC going flat out. I am very happy with the coolant temp. An amazing vehicle.

I have just returned from a trip to Perth ( I had to take the Missus down for a minor heart procedure) and the old D2a ran perfectly with the highest coolant temp getting to 96C with the air con flat chat in traffic and 92C on the highway at 110kph, The outside temps were in the high 30's.
However my rear brakes are giving me grief as they appear to have locked on at some stage in the trip, Hopefully no rotor damage (they don't feel/look like they have been scored) but I am pretty sure the rear pads are now "Toast"

A bugger of a time of year to get anything into a workshop so it looks like I won't get this fixed until after the festive season, I will make a few calls tomorrow But I won't be holding my breath.
Luckily I have No plans to head out bush or down the beaches until well after Xmas/New Year because everywhere you go at this time of year it is always crowded which is Not my idea of enjoyment.

My D2 has travelled 6,600km since fitting the Flashlube (aka Provent 100) catch can and it was showing signs that it required draining. A look inside confirmed that the drain tube was full. I didn’t know how much to expect but when drained it amounted to approximately 100ml. My drain tube is 60cm long. Will drain every 1000kms i think...
