SubscriberExcept they are illegal for road use, although I wonder if police would bother to check seeing there are so many fake bead lock wheels on the market now.
Funny thing is that I had a look at the NSW VSR and bead locks are not specifically mentioned, but anything not mentioned does require an engineers report.
The Google reason is that loose or broken bolts can lead to instantaneous deflation.

I think it is NCOP VSB14 4.2.1 last sentance that nails beadlocks. I think there are some that comply, cast alloy beadlocks like Walker Evans it might be.

Rims must not have a full circumferential weld, other than one that attaches the rim to the wheel centre.

ADR 20. 20/x and 23 nail beadlocks.
Safety bead - compulsory
Welded join - no go
And speed rating hammers the tyres - L rating isn’t enough… minimum N for road use.

SupporterYou stopped on the road randomly seemingly for no apparent reason,
then you realised the land Rover "automatic under body rust prevention system" had deployed itself with no warning ... leaving you to lay in the prickles as you repaired it and refilled the storage sump and ponder:
1. How long it will take to clean the car.
2. How long before all the neighbours forget.
3. What mental condition you must be suffering as you've owned 3 of them and the whole lot have deployed themselves like this, and deep down you knew it was coming, and yet still failed to to fix it before "deployment", leaving you indescribably filthy with yourself at letting it happen.
Oh wait.... Sorry, that was me
