    That is some power!

Waiting on delivery of parts due to Covid, so bit stagnant today.

Bit of work required to clear the water outlet with the manifold just a bit too wide.

Simple little grind and fits nice. Fitted the wurth studs and then found the kit also supplied new studs, 19 spares now...

The upsweep of the manifold was no where near as much as I anticipated when placed on the head - it does come out further and thankful that I have wrapped it.

First attempt by the BIL to make a shroud for the electric fan, looked great but a little too big (hitting the belts), back to the drawing board and remaking it

Ohh what a lot of fun getting the exhaust off, two crossmembers and the front one coming down hard on my face, lucky aint got looks to wreck. Still will leave the front one off until the Bilstein's come and fit the spacing plate then. The outlet of the new exhaust is at a different angle but should pose no problems.

Had a mate around to look at the connection between the P38 auto cooler and the existing pipes, looking good to go.

    Dyno Graph of the GTB550???

Have been in conversation with Darkside Developments re my set up and they have sent me a dyno chart which is a little disconcerting. Sure it shows good numbers 400 lb/ft (540Nm) at 2850rpm and 264 hp (195Kw) at 4100 rpm which would be at 35psi, but at present am questioning the below 2000rpm levels which could impact regarding drivability especially on the track

As I am only wanting to run max around 25 psi and the goal is 400 Nm at 2000rpm interested how the GTB550 compares in torque delivery.

Do you have a dyno chart of the GTB550 with the torque curve, be most interested to see how it develops the power and more importantly where.

Out of curiosity- Manual or Auto?

You’ll freak the Auto out over about 440nm

There is a GTB450 which apparently has better low down and still pulls through the rev range but it doesn’t have the ultimate numbers of the GTB550.

Finally got time to deal with the sudden dump of ATF from the gearbox. It looks like a previous owner had the same problem and replaced the rubber part of the pipe on the passenger side of the cooler but used hose clamps rather than getting it done properly. The cooler end had blown off allowing the ATF to escape.
After an extended period of wrestling and swearing I got both the pipes and fittings off and took them to a local hydraulic place to be done properly. More wrestling and swearing and they were back on.

After nearly fainting at the price of Transmax Z I got to the job of refilling it. I decided that now would be an opportune time to drain what was left and replace the filter. No bits were caught in the filter and there were no bits on the drain plug. The remains of the fluid looked and smelt like brand new ATF. Bonus.

Now the car was parked on the nature strip sloping down towards the drivers side so I couldn't fill it completely but I did get enough in to be able to turn the car around so that I could get more ATF into it. Nearly six litres of it in total. Got the car onto level ground and I reckon it's probably got about 100ml too much in it so I decided to let it stay as it was.

What a trial getting the ATF in. A 500ml pump bottle so under the car, pump like buggery, out from under the car, refill bottle and repeat. By the time that's done a few times the exhaust system is as hot as from idling and is ready and willing to burn anything that comes into contact with it - bits of me for example.
All done now and it changes as good as ever since the rebuild and is nice and smooth. And it doesn't leak.
    Cheers,
    Mark F...
