Haha - yup it's mostly about the "nut" behind the wheel - and yes I neglected "sport mode" which when in low 1 or 2 locks the torque convertor I use it a lot in challenging terrain in the high country - i guess that i have re-evalulate just where sloping cow paddocks fit into my terrain map

I know you were alone in the D2 weren't you?.... just like i am MOST of the time

It's not very edifying when on the rare time you have a passenger, and are chatty, and there is a lapse in your concentration bad things happen

    4WD Training Course

Well, my Disco went to school today to learn how to be a real Land Rover. Ok, to be honest, I went to learn how to drive a Land Rover.
I am in some ways amazed at what the car can do. On the hill stop and start sections, the D3 and 4's where ripping it up, sliding, The disco 2 went up in low range 1st gear and sailed past the point that stumped the newer models. I didn't see the TC light going on, I was busy trying not to steer. I did hear it kicking in and out.
Another exercise through uneven and deepish water. The car leaned over on to the left and then to the right, apparently no where near its tipping point. That was the scary part, I though the car would tip over. It was so scary I did it twice.
The ground was very muddy and slippery. I tried to use the HDC on the very steep downhill section, but engine braking kept the speed to low.

This was at Melbourne4x4 conducted by the LROCV.

    Good fun

    Cheers all

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Fitted the new Watts link pivot bush's. An interesting exercise. The torque values are quite high. Apart from that all went OK, overnighting the bush's in the freezer aids fitment.

    I'm a boat!

This was on a LROCV training course.
A mate of mine called the car "Boaty McBoatface"
The first photo was the scariest. It was I am told a long way from the tip[ over angle. It just didn't seem that way on the inside.
The second photo was almost tranquil, I got into second, low range of course.
The third photo does look a bit low in the water. I wondered if water would get in as I was driving through. It didn't.
