As per my post a couple of days ago, this is where I have fitted an oil separator.

    Attachment 121949

The unit that fits here is

Oil Catch Can tank crankcase Small Universal Pro Patrol Hilux Navara 4x4 4WD | eBay

Plus 1 metre 19MM ID tube from Western Filters

    Oil Resistant Hose PFPOH19 (Low Pressure) for ProVent 1m x 3/4" x 19mm Pro Vent | eBay

Plus stop ball valve which I had plus 1/2 metre oil resistant clear hose from Pirtek plus 1/2 inch nipple with 1/4 BSP thread for my ball valve. Plus a number of hose clamps in stock, plus a piece of copper tube say 80MM with 19MM OD to join the existing breather hose to new breather hose.

Brackets are just 2 bits of 20MM? by 2MM ? steel strip cut to length and held to inner guard threaded holes .
    Regards Philip A

I had a problem with air coming in through my back drivers side window for ages now so I took a closer look today.
I found that the seal on the rear part of the window was missing.
I took the inner skin off the door and sure enough the seal had slid down and was sitting in the bottom of the window.
I refitted it with a liberal coating of sikaflex to hold it in place. Hopefully this should fix the noisy air coming in now

Did another drain/fill of the tranny.

Got the HF working and did a test.

Checked the bloody water leak from the water pump tonight and...

Not a drop !!?? (yes, there's still coolant in the system )

    Adventures and weight loss

Got back from test run of shiny new roof tent and awning down Augusta. All works a charm.

Hiked out to the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse and found a distant cousin hanging about in a shed.

Took out the third row seats - those suckers are heavy! Wish I had done it before the trip! 13.3 L/100km for our first adventure. Learning the 90 km/h 2000 rpm sweet spot to get the number down. And the third gear lockup at 80ish.
Pulled apart the rear door trim panel to remove the silly space wasting rectangular plastic pocket of sillyness and think it will turn into a door latch service and possible trim replacement to some manner of stylish aluminium.
Contemplating home made rear draw designs.

Today I finished installing a Donaldson electrical air filter restriction indicator in the airbox lid and now all that is required is running the wiring into the cabin and connecting to an indicator lamp. Also I wound back my wastegate adjustment to factory setting and installed a manual boost controller. Now boost creep is no more and now throttle response / boost ramp comes on earlier, is swifter and smoother compared to the crude "shorten the wastegate rod length" solution I'd been relying on for the past 1/2 dozen years like so many of us searching for enhanced top end performance from our TD5.

Small thing today...mounted fire extinguisher. The plastic bracket is just too weak to mount in the cabin. Better having at least the Cage and typically a load in front of it. Cheers

Ps also treated the OG to a new silver and black tailgate handle badge...in the mail

    Drivers side window not working.

The drivers side window is sticking. Time to replace the nylon wheels in the regulator.
