Mate I unhooked the grey trim and the rear quater of the cream trim, lifted the grey trim and slid the 18mm form ply in. The thing will be solid as a rock when finished. Cheers

    Spare wheel shuffle.

Decided to go with the drill 6 new holes and shuffle up (only needed 10 mm to make the rubber fit) instead of flipping the carrier.
My thinking was 6 holes are as easy as 2 if the mount is off anyways, and there must be some logic behind the 2 top, 1 bottom stud configuration. Happy with the result.

I think I would have welded some flat plate behind each of the sections where the bolts go through and welded into the old holes.
Seeing they can crack anyway , the lack of meat between the new and old holes to me is worrying.

Anyway , see how it goes and keep and eye on it, particularly on corrugations. There is that old YouTube of the Nissan Patrol with 2 spares hung off his carrier dropping the lot on the Simpson.
    Regards Philip A

The 6 hole mod has been holding a 33.4" spare without issue for 150,000km on some rough as guts tracks and not a single sign of cracking...
