					Know thy enemy(they say)

Fuel Pressure Regulator!
.. is an enemy I don't want to know about any more!
Ouch!... bloody hell .. and what kind of imbecile(s) designs such a brainless setup?
SO brother and I were due to hit the road at about 12PM today.
I head to his place, he tells me "I can smell diesel".
Long story short ... FPR is leaking at the rear.
He has a kit already .. 'lets do it before we head off' I tell him. (OK, so now I know better).
First fit of the FPR was a total disaster. Not my area(TD5) of interest to be honest, but thought how hard can it be.
He had no idea either, and so we both didn't see the O ring on the head .. so the inevitable massive leak ensued on the first fit.
Quickly retrieve second gasket and O ring this time, fit FPR, not only a simple PITA .. but a truly monumental PITEBP(Every Body Part!!) trying to get it in and secured.
Anyhow .. managed that, finally, no diesel gushing between FPR body and head... we do the priming sequence and we now have a leak from the fuel spill return line at both compression fittings(which weren't there at first).
No problemo I said ... it's up top there, nice and easy to get too(of course little did I know).
Obviously didn't want to remove inlet manifold and make more work for ourselves .. infamous last words!
Curious if anyone has managed to remove and refit the front connector successfully without removing the inlet manifold?
Tried the crows foot tool, ground it down to the barest minimum material left to get it to fit within the non existent space allocated there, but still no luck. Dropped the alternator for more room, nothing!
Without a totally modded tool of some type, inlet HAS to come off me thinks .. but I do have a new plan of attack for it tomorrow.
So details of todays ordeal(instead of driving towards the sunset and taking a couple of days off):
started at 12, I finally had to concede defeat at 10PM.
12-4PM was to finally get the FPR body not leaking(including the 30mins to retrieve another new gasket and O ring and to replace the rounded bolt with new 13mm(headed) flanged bolts).
4-10PM was wasted unable to remove the top spill return pipe(front union).
Mind you this included no food until 9PM, 3 shower periods and freezing cold southerlys
