I have two “spare” shafts that have flogged out over 100k. How do you tell if the centre is still ok?

I just need the big centre part that holds the two universal crosses mine flogged out that part but the two shafts are ok.
Had a D1 front shaft so did a small mod and am using that.

Started the D2 this morning and the sound of a Thousand rattles started. I am suspecting harmonic balancer - any easy way of checking if it is?

Drop the belt off

Pretty sure when my front shaft flogged out it was one of the main yokes that was rooted.
ill check in the morning, but if so and it's of use to you then you're welcome to it.


i may have made an impulse purchase this morning...and my toys budget for the next month or two has been spent...

Got the GME TX3350 with remote mount.
main unit is under the dash and the head unit plugs in at the kick panel now.
most stealth install I could do.

Love the sticky mount on the coin tray

Didn't want to drill any holes if avoidable...want it reversible if I change cars as this wasn't a cheap unit and I'll take it with me.
even the hole the cable goes into on the kick panel was already there, just had to enlarge it slightly.

That's going to hurt the back pocket.
That's a good photo showing a good UJ still with grease in it and the exploded UJ with the red rust dry as a bone look, even when the tailshaft is complete you will see the red dust sneaking out under the seals.
