We tried all manner of stuff and ours wouldn't budge!
In the end the only way we could get ours out was to hack at it with careful brutality using a very slim/cheap/sacrificial wood chisel. Just carefully hack at the bearing shell, making 101% sure not to damage the casing.
And just before we cut right through the shell, it started to come free. Took about 10 mins or so.

We have a small injector slide hammer(cost about $20 from a store in Tullamarine) with a thread on the end, to which we welded various attachments with nuts on them, which were threaded onto the slide hammer .. simply wouldn't budge.
The wood chisel is a softer metal compared to a cold chisel, and by the end of the hacking was ... well sacrificed.

If it comes out easy as Urban Panzer shows on his discovery2.com site .. I'd worry that the casing may be a bit too loose fit for the bearing shell.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

When MR LR and I did mine, he got a hooked rod (like what you use to hold down a battery, and welded a large but onto the end. Then he slipped the rod through the hole of a large shifting spanner and we essentially had a ghetto slide hammer. **** still took ages!

    Very small bearing puller.

What I need is a very small bearing puller. Or careful slice and dice with a Dremel.

    Racecourse Road Ford, Williamstown

I drove through that today. The water was about 150 to 175mm deep. The 2 wheel drive (cough cough) disco went through without a problem. Why were there these signs saying the crossing was closed?

Because the west is bursting at the seams with Ford Ranger drivers, and the authorities are tired of recovering them from that spot!

The learner driver with 40 hours drove through the ford today. We had a big thumbs up from a couple parked on the side of the road in Skoda.

Unbelievably on roundabout at the intersection of Ferguson St and Station Rd, we had a Hyundai ii20 or similar enter the roundabout in front us us. Learner driver is good on the brakes otherwise we would've hit it. WTF! so stupid are some people. I think a side on would destroy the little car and add a dent to the ARB bullbar.

Ah! .. my old stomping grounds!(I went to Willy High)
I doubt the plastic of the Hyundai would have dented the ARB bar .. more likely a small bit of paint that probably would have washed off!
My dad is now driving a Peugeot 307, and I couldn't believe that the front quarter panel is made of plastic now!
It's so small, bumper does a huge wrap around, and quarter panel is barely a panel at all, so it's teeny and featherweight. Makes sense tho. It barely weighs a few hundred grams.

This could be good for the Good Oil Pedro
Thought id have a play with a dead D2 Double Cardan shaft i was given to see what all the heartache was about

After about a couple of minutes it was quite apparent what the issue was

So some not so deep thinking latter dug the mig out (a stick welder will do ) found a bolt & nut with suitable washers and a 50mm 3/4" drive socket and wallah
Now a bit of pipe or tube could be used instead of a 3/4" socket
It took me longer to get the mig out and set it up than to do the job

    1-Fist pic bolt welded on.

2-Second pic socket attached and washer`s with nut.

    3-Third pic almost out.

    4-Fourth pic job done

Any one in Melb needs this done i can help if you don`t have a welder

When I did mine my mate just zapped the inside with a mig and it came out after that, the heat did it , we didn't need to weld any bolts onto any thing.
