Took the sump off the td5 and found out why my oil light was on!20200829_142852.jpg
Picked up a new belt, belt tensioner and fan pulley bearing to go with the rad, hoses, water pump, O ring and t/stat.
Just waiting on the exhaust manifold to come back from the coaters and the IC to turn up, then all back together.

Up at 5am for work , turned the key on my disco 2 td5 , motor turn a couple of times then stopped dead..... turn key back on but no coil light, motor is cranking over fine but not starting, still no coil light. Got out of the disco, swore at the full moon turned to go back inside considering if I shall call in sick. Locked the disco using fob. 5 mins came back out thought I would try one more time before I reach for the phone ,,,,,, bingo coil light back on .... then off , started first crank.
now lads ,,, my question is ,,,, is this a sign of dire times to come ????
Yes if you don't clean your battery terminals.my question is ,,,, is this a sign of dire times to come ????
I assume you mean ignition light (or more correctly on a diesel the alternator light), the one next to the oil pressure light.

Actually washed it.
I can't remember if it's the second or third time in three years.
Other than the paint peeling from the door tops, a buff and polish to minimise the bush pin striping and it'd look flash.
Fitted new brake discs and pads on all 4 corners.
I got new bolts for the calipers - genuine LR parts. The rears came with pink thread lock applied but the front did not.
Anyway a good way to spend a few hours in lock down on a sunny day.

I really hope so. I still have the sump out. It's been very hard trying to work on it outside with this Melbourne weather! I haven't checked the dumped oil thoroughly yet but will soon. I did find a little bit of metal in the corner of the sump. The motor still turns over easily enough. I'll put everything back in and hope for the best.
