I had the LT230 sump extension on my 04 D2a, and the current interest is cos I'm planning to convert my BW Viscous Coupling on the LSE to a LT230, and will do the same again with the sump extension.

Have to admit, hadn't until recently considered a temp gauge could possibly be warranted as well, and would probably put it in the same category as an engine oil temp gauge?

The LT230 can get pretty warm.

I took some IR temp readings years ago just burling down the highway and was surprised, can't recall exactly now.

    Djam's post gives some temps

    Ah! OK then.
I'll start looking for a heat exchanger to transfer heat from elsewhere into the TC somehow, as I'm sure a Tdi's LT230 would be normally operating at close to absolute zero.

    Weird happenings today.
picked up new old Coromal Seka pioneer Xc from Yarrawonga.
on Hume returning to Sydney and all of a sudden no boost and very high EGTs.
pulled ove and started checking bloody hot engine. Boost hoses looked Ok so suspected wastegate jammed open. Turbo looked Ok no oil or play. Suddenly noticed thread on wastegate activator screwed right out so screwed down to about 12 turns. I reconnected modulator as didn’t. Know if turbosmart also a problem.
Anyway all well and good boost and EGTs
must have been loosening for months but no boost happened suddenly although I have noticed less maximum boost for a while
    regards PhilipA

Coromal Seka pioneer Xc, is that some sort of outdated missile launcher, Philip?

Today I removed the mud terrains and put on the all terrains, aka high way tyres. The fridge and drawers were also removed. The coolant was dumped, about 75% water and 25% concentrate. The cooling system was flushed with Penrite radiator flush. New coolant at the correct mix was put in. This took all after noon. And I buggered a wheel nut. I cross threaded it and know it will not go on straight. I think I need a new one as I don't think that this can be fixed.
I also replaced the rocker cover gasket, the front bore hole seal and the rocker cover sealing washers. This time I bought genuine. I hope that these last longer than the 8 months that the ‘OEM’ lot lasted.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.
