There should be a lot more up travel there, I suspect you're right Tombie, especially with offset rims.

This George Sadliks Disco2 with 2" that we trialled with my 285/75-16 and they rubbed front and back while just parked on a set of stairs with all 4 wheels still on the ground.

And likewise this is mine with 4" lift. The guards are cut here and they're a bigger tyre, but you can see where the travel should be if the articulation is right. These are both static tests, dynamically they will travel upwards even further than in the pictures.

Edit, actually you will remember Bryan McGlade's 3" lift that he developed, it was soft and long travel, he could even get 265/75-16's to rub!

What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

I decided to investigate an oil weep from the TD5 turbine compressor body and found that it’s been slinging oil and mixing it with the inlet air for what looks like a considerable time because the built up residual is like tar. So I will now be shopping for a replacement cartridge.

Will a new cartridge fix the oil leak?

It will if it's the turbo seal that is leaking.

It's one likely reason for the oil, the other is blowby coming into the intake from the breather pipe.

That would be worth checking also.

Got the old girl professionally detailed to remove all of rattle can paint job from the previous owner. Not sure what the hell he was thinking but there was over spray on the roof, bonnet and the rear door.

Absolutely smashed it out of the park!

I do have an oil catch can and the intake pre turbo is not wet with oil so the catch can is doing it’s job. However, there is roughly 1mm play in the turbine shaft, so the oil seals will definitely be worn.
