Shes been demoted to my bedroom for the next six days. (I've got the bug)
nothing like camping out under the house.

The missus lowers food down to me with a rope. Life's good, beer fridge even works

My own fault, really should have had a bug out kit ready to go at the drop of a RAT test - I'd be up in the mountains by a stream if I was better prepared.

Threaded Hose Pipe and VNT control

Not sure this has happened to me before but the intercooler pipe clamp which has been recalcitrant to say the least, revealed its secret today, the thread half way up was cactus

Sure this was an SAAS clamp but still, it wasn't as if it was keeping the hose on due to the tension and the replacement has already come off twice. Source better quality one today a must.

So got delivery of the VNT vacuum controller, it is ridiculous how little information there is out there regarding this, lots of waffle and no firm advice. The Dawes valve setup etc. is the most prevalent and suppose pertinent but finding a controller that actually said it was a VNT vacuum controller and a set up similar to the Dawes valve setup with Vacuum source, pre turbo, post turbo and actuator connections, priceless.

Well not priceless they are about $200!

Although I am having boost issues (cant boost past 28 psi) which appears to be a MAP issue, the fact the controller was able to limit the boost rise rate has at least the car to be drivable so can put the foot down somewhat without it hitting the limit at around 2500 which requires you to lift off so it can change up a gear. Should add, the unit I got has not got the knurled knobs but screw down, not nearly as easy when driving.

    Replaced Front Hub.

There will be photos and more of a write up. I am a bit pooped at present.
The hub nut came of easily, maybe too easily! But it looks like the hub nut mates up with the inner bearing race, and the drive shaft flange mates up with the outer bearing race.
The old bearing OEM Timken was shagged! Not sure why as it had many many ugga duggas on install.
In my tiredness, I did not refit the abs cable bracket that goes on the caliper carry. I'll fit this tomorrow. My tired brain was looking at the cable thinking there should be a bracket there, it could rub on the drive shaft.
However, it is nice not to see all the lights, all four of them. They did flash on and of a few times which was a worry.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Well done Bohica, I'm looking forward to the write up. How many km's did you get out of the bearings?
    Cheers

Maybe 30k, no where near enough for proper OEM. I'll check the torque this time with a breaker bar and weights. Or torque wrench and a bar!

Easy peasy, seems like the go and price is very reasonable.

Both mine (came with various purchases) are soldered antenna ends and coax runs out the bottom of base so had 2 cables to inside but I am only a bitumen road warrior so took everything out for now.

My beastie ran the battery flat overnight 3 times in a row during the week then stopped doing it when I tried to hunt it down to spite me.

Then the fuel temp defaulted to 60 celsius coz one of the wires broke off the plug.

Ordered 10 new plugs ( 14 bucks delivered from aliexpress) with tails (I never order one of anything when it is small/cheap ) coz I looked at the coolant temp plug and its wires were daggy where they exited.

For anyone that doesn't know (like me) they are same as Bosch EV1 fuel injector plugs, the AMP number will get you not very far, so I picture matched coz I am a simple fellow, paid off.

They are available as an aeroflow part too but sans pigtails

My D2 went nowhere… although I have started sorting the rear wiring loom now that the back is gone!

    Three Zero K
    30,000 kilometers.

Hence my desire to measure the torque on the hub nut, to ensure I have 490Nm or more.

As I did not fit this bracket, I will have to go through the "replace ABS sensor" process to fit the bracket as I do not think there is enough room behind the hub.
Any one in the western suburbs who has a 500Nm torque wrench, or a 500mm breaker bar, or a meter long pipe that will fit over a torque wrench, that I can borrow? Beer tokens or cash or what ever.
Any one taken the bearing apart? I am curious to see how they are put together.
