    Totally.

I can only assume the Td5 HD TC is the same as a V8 TC, but when you buy the full kit Td5 TC & flex plate kit you have to buy the V8 TC labeled as a Td5 HD TC which is twice the price for the same product.

A bit of Td5 upgrade tax!

I still cant see why you wouldn't buy the flex plate kit and then buy a new/reco/2nd hand V8 TC locally in that case.
    Cheers

Gave her a bit more love today.

Replaced the t/case mounts and gave the trans a flush. (13l replaced, I didn't have quite enough to do the 4th flush)
It's going to get a new torque converter soon but I wanted to get the friction modifier/trans flush additive (a lanolin ester based goop that's a very mild cleaner) out that I added about 3-5000km ago. (or 2 years ago, that's how old the new ATF is, too)
Lubricants don't need additives kiddies, IOW do as I say, not as I do.

Just checked and I paid for the flex plate kit on 27 May last year, $381.38 landed here at whatever the exchange rate was then (206 pounds including freight).

The torque converter I bought locally for $100 from a chap at MT. Barker after he kindly split it from the trans which was originally up for sale as package. I didn't have funds or I would have bought the V8 trans too as a donor to upgrade my 4HP22 internals.

I replaced the sump, rear main, input and output of box, and input seal of transfer case, no leaks yet, crossing fingers, I used corteco branded seals.

I don't do much kays per week so will be a few more weeks b4 I really know if I need to bump up the off idle fuelling but at this point happy with stock tune.

Going into city later tonight so 80k return trip to get more seat of pants driveability feel.

I changed the gearbox, R380 and transfer case oils yesterday. I wondered what gorilla (me!) had tightened up the R380 drain plug, I could not loosen it. not enough room for the socket that I had, are there very low profile ones? I ended up hitting the spanner with a hammer to break it loose. The oil looked a bit like it had milk mixed with it. Or mayo. I refilled the gearbox and spilled about 150mL. The transfer case had about 300mL in it. Replacing the filler plug was the usual pain in the arse. Maybe 10 minutes fart arsing around to get the plug in. With the amount of oil leaking out of the transfer case, I will have to top it up in six months. Time to rebuild my spare transfer case.

Got lucky and saw someone's post about an oil leak at on the front a td5. Someone said to check the EGR cooler bolt holes cos one isn't a blind hole. Well that probably explains why my swapped in 16p* might be covered in oil at the front, 5min chasing down a suitable bolt to seal the hole and hopefully that's one oil leaked sorted atleast.

    *It's in an '99 so I didn't fit it.

When I took my cooler off the hole you are referring to left a stud in mine.

At a later date that stud was removed, unbeknown to me that the hole went right through.

Sure enough, about 2 days later when returning to vehicle in shopping complex I noticed a large oil stain under car at the front.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I guess it is not going out from under the carport today, or tomorrow .....

So am I guessing right that the oil cooler has gone? Oil level way down.

Have not taken cam cover off, just assume it will be creamy froth.

Drove into carport fine running like a clock, no missing or any untoward noises.

    Any and all comments welcome.

Yep, unfortunately, oil cooler and/or "O" rings.
Won't be any detectable coolant in oil, just oil through the cooling system, makes a hell of a mess, but the sooner you fix it and flush it out, the better.

Yep, 'O' rings. Oil level low and oil in the water. I was told by a radiator guy that liquid dishwasher cleaner is good for flushing the oil out of the water system.
