After being chuffed with the HD torque converter improvement the oil cooler gave out

    Pics a few posts above.

In bits under the carport with cat litter soaking up the oil/water sludge that went everywhere as I pulled the oil cooler housing off drain pan underneath fail.

Bugger mate. Still, will be back up in no time I bet. Great vehicles... they don't feel 2 decades old. Cheers

    They really don't.
The TD5 can be a bit buzzy with it's weird harmonics, I'm trying to get rid of a dash 'buzz' atm, but the overall driving is pretty sweet, especially for solid, live axles at both ends

I lent my d2 to the boss,he’s 43 always had the flasher cars, he’s waiting on his new ranger to arrive. He is pretty impressed with the old d2 he took it to Bendigo and back the other day, 2.5 he each way. It has the normal d2 things going on but I see him grin when he steps into it lol. When I get it back il park it up and start doing some jobs on it, radiator, sunroof drains, abs sensor and headlining.
Fella across the road had his territory out yesterday, van pulls up all the doors of territory open and 10 min later roof lining is out on some stands. That perk my interest, finished Brekky wonder over and bloke from Melb comes up this way doing roof linings had a chat got his card and said book me in please so next time he’s up this way il get him to lining.

    GOT TO LAUGHHHH Ha ha

Out with the old starter this morning and in with the brand new Denso, turn the key, nothing, absolutely nothing. Check every fuse and I mean EVERY fuse, all good, change relays out, all good. Get under to check the connection and all good. BIL checks to see when starting if there is any power going across the terminals and it coughs and turns over.

What did he do, just touched the spade connection he said, that was all. Jiggle with the spade again (seems patent) and no problems starting at all.....

Got to LAUGH, sure, got to laugh, real ha ha, well at least I know that will be the last time for the D2 I have to get that top 15mm bolt out.

Question, where does the wire from the spade terminate, going to change out the wire with a new connection and wire lead.

Exhaust Jack to air compressor jack

Got an exhaust jack before Christmas for the trip away and noticed when checking up on the delivery that they now come with an air compressor attachment, well these things are available out there. They are used to inflate kayaks and such

Inflatable Boat SUP Pump Adaptor Vashly Air Pump Converter Standard Schrader Conventional Pump Adaptor Air Valve Adapter Pumping Head Connector for Inflatable Rowing Boat,Stand Up Paddle Board,Kayak : Amazon.com.au: Sports, Fitness & Outdoors

The connector is actually better quality than the supplied one by the way, ohh and the protector sheets supplied wouldn't stop a determined mozzie, so added just a couple of bits of rubber sheet and now feel it will be protected.

The starter ( start signal) comes from a relay under the bonnet. The ignition triggers the relay ( active side) and the BCM puts an earth on the other side.

Dropped the exhaust manifold off to be refaced today, hopefully back by time new oil cooler arrives.

Mentioned whether de webbing is any good or not and machinist said easy peasy he will just put a slit in the webs to relieve any potential stresses.

I have a D2a intercooler sitting around so contemplating my navel over whether to swap that in while waiting. But then again which of the jobs that are on the gunna list do I start with ? decisions $$$$ decisions $$$$ , this thing is becoming an expensive hobby too quickly as the neglect comes out of the metal work
