totally agree but if the stock amplifier isn't designed to see a higher voltage then what ?

we would also need to consider how are the speakers wired series parallel ?

ohm load are they 1 /2/3/4/8 ohms speakers ?

pretty easy to wire 4 speakers together and keep the correct ohm load

My Alpine HU is 4 volt pre outs runs loud and clear.

The channels are paralleled where split

4 ohms I seem to recall maybe

No doubt replacing all the speakers, wiring and amp when changing out the head unit with modern quality gear would great but what a cost...

every thing comes at a cost just like some people will spend 300 /500 1000 dollars on a head unit but use the factory hardware system ?

a good head unit will play allot more frequencies than a stock unit
stock speakers will have a curtain frequency response

maybe your loud and clear is different to my loud and clear
but there is no need to spend lots of money

most cheap amplifiers and speaker splits are dead cheap cheaper brands ...and they pruduce more power and clearer than a stock system ..also they will play longer at higher listening levels with out going into limp mode or cutting out

Hi guys, I had a bit of a play with the stereo this morning, and tried to work out the wiring, do the black wires coming from the RCAs need grounding?

If you are referring to the wires with a black trace that go to the Rca plug from the iso connector they will be the audio negatives and from memory are soldered to the shield. The positive wire is connected is to the pin.

    Cheers

Thanks for the reply Steve, OK I now understand that bit, but there is also 2 solid black wire, so 5 wires per set of RCAs, if that makes sense
