Oh if you go the d1 cdl you will have to change the p/shaft out put flange to suit your d2 p/shaft unless you put a d1 p/shaft in it which is not advisable by some

So in addition to this, I'll just need the actuator and then I'm laughing?

Ashcrofts also have the CDL actuator kit also, so it looks factory.
It works on a cable system that replaces the Hi -Low cable setup up. Having said that the Old D1 system used linkages to do this, you can retrofit a link system from a d1 if you remove all the brackets and linkages.,

I'd love to have it wired to one of the blanks on the dashboard surround

No one has really come up with a reliable electric version. there were some marketed made from a windscreen wiper motor years ago that bolted to the top of the transfer with a bracket. they failed dismally as water and mud to into the motor.

There's nothing wrong with the new AMV electric cdl kits. My cousin had it on his D2 and never had a problem with it. And he did some pretty hard stuff. Water and deep mud. Pretty much any chance he had it was deep in mud and water. And it always worked.

If you can get a factory linkage that is the best solution IMHO.
They came in D2A 2003-05 only so you have to be quick.
    Usual ask is about $500.
I was able to get one from a wrecker in Melbourne who even threw in the correct sticker and an auto shift lever for under $500.
Try Outback 1 who wrecks D2s constantly.
I don't know why everyone seems to think you need the internals as you said you had them, so you have an EU2 99-2001 then.

    Regards Philip A
