I find this section of the Microcat catalogue too confusing to tell if there's a difference between the 4.0 and 4.6 computers but according to this thread < Disco Td5 autobox: replacing torque converter - Discovery Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum > there are three different sizes - small for Td5, medium for 3.9/4.0 and large for 4.6:

Have we actually heard yet from anyone who has successfully done this? I'm currently trying and hitting M&S light error https://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery...ml#post2866806

EDIT: Auto trans controller / at ecu v8 to td5 disco 2 might be interesting reading relating to this.

I have the Ashcroft medium TC for the TD5 made a massive difference with the TD5inside stage 1 tune. I will get to plugging mine in this week. I just tried and I need to unbolt the Amp etc to get to it so I need a bit more time.
This is the one I have to try

Three or four screws and a popper to get the seat base trim off. Should then be able to wiggle it out easily.
Four bolts holding the seat in - I think they were a 6 pointed E-torx type socket fitting but maybe a multi hex normal socket could work? One has a nut underneath the vehicle (19mm).
On my HSE full electric seats there were two connectors front side and one rear underneath the seat.
19mm bolt for the seat belt anchor.
Lift seat out and put aside.
My Harmon Kardon amplifier had two screws holding it in place - Philips head. I left it plugged in and put it to the side.
Three nuts (maybe 10mm) securing the mounting plate to the floor, lifted it up and used a Philips and 10mm to undo the ECU.
Remove wiring connector and fitting is the reverse.

Microcat seems to almost suggest the intercompatability of the ECU's between Td5 and V8. The attached screen shot shows the listing for the IGG 000 070 unit which is what is OEM/factory fitted to my September 2002 built D2a HSE Td5. Going to the bottom of the alternative part list (which is all the part number below it that are indented) it lists UHC500010 which is the new unit that I've purchased. However UHC500010 is a common part available from the USA because it's the unit fitted to most of their 2002-2004 V8 D2a's, but Land Rover have listed it as an alternative part to replace the original unit in my Td5.

The Microcat listings are divided up into two sections D04035 and D04040 for the ECU-GEARBOX AND TRANSFER BOX which ordinarily would mean V8 and Td5 but in this case the part numbers seem to just be blended in with each other, listed together and as alternatives, so I'm not sure what the separation is between the two...
