    Key

I need one, just the board, I have spare fobs.
My go to guy and girl don't stock them. There are plenty on eBay, does anybody have a recommendation, please?
ATM, I only have one key, it's superglued together, if it dies, I'm knackered .
I am prepared to buy a complete key, ready for programming.

If it's the late model frequency one, there should be plenty of choice on eBay,I think that's where I got mine, the early ones however.....
Pretty pricey, IF you can find one
I think the early ones are 375 mhz

When I got the D2 last year both were knackered as the buttons have fallen off. I bought this one albeit $15 cheaper at the time.

Discovery 2 Land Rover Remote Complete Key Blank 433mhz Ready for programming | eBay

I swapped the blade from the original and programmed with the nanocom. I also bought some replacement buttons for the original boards so I have 3 now.

At what distance from the ignition switch will the transponder work? I'm thinking that if the transponder can communicate with the immobilizer, from my pocket, it would stop car-jackers from getting away with the car.

If you are concerned a out carjackers activate the auto lock function.
This locks all the doors a few seconds after startup

Actually the D2 fobs dont have a transponder, they have an electronic oscilator chip on the PCB which must be very close to the ignition(max 10cm) cos the passive remobilisation exciter coil is around the barrel, the coil is working together with the oscillator in the fob as to transmit a remobilisation signal to the RF receiver so as long as the passive immobiliser is not disabled the engine can be started only by using the fob which is programmed to the vehicle so if the fob is in your pocket the vehicle will be unstartable after 30 seconds even if it's unlocked.
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
