Remove the fan shroud, if it's still fitted it is on the driver's side front near the tappet cover. Across the front of the motor is the EGR cooler.
Mat's TD5 is a 99, which (I'm fairly sure) doesn't have the cooler, just the EGR valve at the front end of the intake manifold .. intercooler hose to intake manifold.
it should be just a pipe from exhaust to EGR.

Brothers kit wasn't expensive if I remember right .. maybe $30 or so.
Just be mindful of the seriously annoying allen head bolts on the exhaust manifold EGR pipe!
