Paul, make sure the ATF is Dex lll, Castrol Transmax ot Penrite are best. I'm probably preaching to the converted, but I'd prefer to err on the side of caution when it comes to the type of oil in the ZF auto.
When you drained the sump, did you allow much time for it to drain? Much of the fluid is in the torque converter, it won't drain.
Some mechanics have a pump that they place in line and reverse flush the transmission, when the fluid comes out clean, the entire system has new fluid and the filter has been back flushed.
Regarding the temperature light, ignore it, it will go away, it's just moisture in the electrical side. I could induce mine to go out with heavy acceleration. It will persist for a while, becoming less frequent until dry.
