2" lift shocks aren't too different in length anyway as the lift typically comes with uprated spring rates.

But that said, the original equipment front shocks do work with 2" lifts but the rears dont work, they top out with a bang at full drop. At the very very least, you would change the rears.

If they aren’t new std length shocks I’d strongly advise replacing them at the same time.

Higher rate springs and worn shocks makes for a pogo stick ride.

I agree too! I'd be very surprised at this age if they were still working properly.

when I installed my +2 springs (front and rear) I was advised to fit +3 shocks and they work really well. I am running a terrafirma kit with hard springs and adjustable shocks. I wanted my lift for doing some offroad, if you want the lift just to fit bigger wheels, then it should not be a problem. If you want to retain the travel and articulation you really need a few more things thn the +2 lift: +3 shocks, longer (d3 i believe) anti rollbar linkages, extended brake lines and re rooting of abs cabling to get a bit more from it. Anyone who tells you these are not required either does not know the difference or does not take his/her d2 offroad. I also installed extended bump stops and relocation cones in the rear, d1 ones will fit, as I had the rear spring pop a couple of times under full articulation without them.

Anyone that just fits a lift to fit bigger tyres doesn’t understand suspension either.

A lift alone does not allow larger tyres - it only changes the static ride height. If it rubs without a lift, it will still rub with a lift when under compression.

Relocation cones are a cheap way to deal with incorrect spring design, correct spring design will self retain and will provide a more progressive transition.

I think the SLS rear shocks are longer than the coil spring rear shocks. So if there really was a desire, for whatever strange reason, to stick with the standard genuine shocks, if on a coil spring vehicle one could fit the SLS rear shocks with +2" coil springs...

Oh cool, that’s really interesting to know!

Nope. Last set I saw were same length.
Valving is radically different though and wouldn’t perform right on coils.

    standard shocks on 2"lift

This is something that’s been bugging me for years, and always stopped me pulling the trigger on buying a set. What is the difference in valving between the air and coil spring applications?
