Would that normally log a fault though?

It's a long time since I had any issues, I've forgotten what I knew!

No faults logged, ditto with issues, D2 related ones anyway.

    Markf,

With Discorevy's comment in mind, it would pay to see whether braking triggers the fault or not, even if it does it may not do it every time, but if it only ever happens when braking, that would be a good indication.

The brake light switch on these used to cause all sorts of problems especially if its the original unit. An updated one came out at one stage and was less problematic. they are easy to change.

It's been a while but I have got to the bottom of the issue.

Believe it or not it was an intermittent battery of all things.

I was going around all the various boxes, connectors, etc. and tapping them with a 4oz dead fall rubber mallet seeing if I could disturb a connection somewhere to the extent that it caused the fault. No joy... It didn't matter what I hit the issue wouldn't raise its ugly head and then I'd go for a drive down the street and low and behold 'bing bing bing + 3 amigos". AAARRRGGGHHH...,

Anyway for some unknown reason I tapped the negative battery terminal. "bing bing bing 3 amigos" Hmmmmmm. Retightened the battery terminals and the 3 amigos went away until I tapped the negative terminal. "Bing....". Disconnect battery and reconnect and all is good. Tapped negative terminal and back they came.

A few days ago I had the battery replaced after demonstrating the problem and since then the issue has gone.

Problem solved. Land Rover electrics can certainly keep you on your toes. I wonder what's next......
    Cheers,
    Mark F...

John, Is this a clean up and refit, or is a replacement required?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Clean and refit in my case. Fairly straightforward. Hardest bit is getting the plugs out.

I used IPA and some electronic contact cleaner and some gentle sort of lacquer to try and seal it, but you have to be careful with PCBs.
