Most d2 sliders mount to the sills, its easy, convenient and strong. The arb one's mount to the chassis and they flex and move a lot when stressed off road, due to the large cantilever. If you want a more open discussion on this, start a new thread in the d2 section, or even better do a search

    rock sliders

On the recent WA trip to the power line track I saw a D1 with sliders attached to the sills after some "action" - not a pretty sight! If I were fitting genuine sliders (as opposed to side steps) they would be underneath/attached to the chassis, even if I needed to provide some flex capability.

i made my own for mine. if stupidbook will let you see it i have a few pics of them before i fitted them and a few fitted up. they work really well. have had both wheels off the ground with a lift jack under them. they do still flex a little, enough that the door scratches the paint on them. but the weight is supported along the whole length of the sill. not just on 2 points of the chassis like the tjm ones that were on it. they were more just a step tho. one time i used them as a slider i bent it all up and couldnt open my door to get out. was quite funny for everyone else involved.

heres a link to my album, if the privacy junk on fb will allow

Maybe I'll pull my finger out and get more sociable in 2012...
