Saw something similar at our local Camping and Caravan show a couple of weeks ago, I like the idea of them after seeing the back of my fathers 4wd going to the Cape and back towing their camper trailer.
I think they would be easy to make, I am definitely going to have a go at it at least.
After seeing your pic it is similar to the one Im going to make except it will be attached to the draw bar by 2 tubes and pins for easy release and I wont reverse over them. As for weighing them down I wouldnt bother because when a stone hits it it will deflect back to the ground/road anyways, if a stone goes under it it will be low enough to hit the bottom of the trailer and go under it not the front which is how it will then hit the car.

. They are usually angled down - so most stones bounce down - but if a stone its the frame of the deflector - often they are round tube - so the bounce can go anywhere.

I know internet access will be patchy .. but I'm set up pretty well and we should be able to update it at least every few days.
