    Bilstein extended rear shocks

    Hi All,

I am looking of a set of long travel Bilstein rear shocks ( F4-BE5-B995-MO).

Does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap supplier? Best I have found so far is $235 per shock..

Having used Bilsteins previously I know how good they are and pretty much have my mind made up ... but the tight ar$e in me would really like to spend less than that..

    Cheers, Mark

i was going to say Shane @ Suspension Stuff but they seem to have gone up to $950 a set

You could try 4x4Discovery.com.au - "think outside ..." as I think they do a discount for LROCV members

Have you tried Heasemans direct? Maybe North Shore 4WD in Artarmon Sydney to post them. The other contact I can think of thats a bit cheaper is Norbert on Overlander, but hes NSW also.

Depending on shipping, from the US can be cheaper but I dont think the part numbers are compatible. If you don't mind importing it may be worth checking out some of the dealers there like Rovertym.

thats a bogus part number...probably a made up heasmans one.
if you can find out as much info on the shock as possible (ring heasmans for the open/closed lengths and the valving) then you should be able to get them out of the states for half the price.

i just imported 2 14'' stroke billies from the US for under 300aud.
    i got mine from shockwarehouse.com

    cheers phil

the aussie part nos (BE 5 B994 and B995) only seem to be available in Oz?!

    Rovertym bilstein are 368 - 572mm

The Bilstein website only lists replacement stock length for a D2

If you run a different shock but with the same lengths and valving will it have that crazy front lower pin set up the d2 runs or will you have to modify the mount ala RTE

the OE replacements will have the cross pin, but i think any others will need to be ordered with this

Thanks for all the help guys, greatly appreciated. Hopefully this thread will help a few others save some $$..

Now what I currently believe is that the rear shocks sold here as F4- BE5-B995-M0 have the follow specs:

    Extended Length: 618mm (24.33 inches)
    Closed Length: 388mm (15.28 inches)
    Rebound of 2555Nm
    Bump of 1035Nm
    Rated at .52 Per sec

(This info was stolen from a previous post from TempestV8)

The OEM rears are 593mm open and 363mm closed

Now looking at shockwarehouse ( thanks Phil !) I found these:

Bilstein shocks and struts for cars and trucks - Shockwarehouse.com

    F4-BE5-A464-H5

    Extended Length: 25.93 inches
    Closed Length: 15.91 inches
    Travel: 10.17 inches
    Valving: 170/60

At US$75.70 a shock it's very temping to give them a go.

Can anyone with more tech knowledge than me tell be if I am letting myself in for trouble?
