Tombie, you mentioned getting custom hoses made up with threaded ends - for the cooler end? What about connecting to the original D2 pipe is it simple a swage like the OEM part.

    thanks

Mike, Id also appreciate some measurements of the P38 transmission cooler. Having had a scout around, there are a heap of aftermarket oil coolers, fitted with either AN or NPT threads available. Reputable brands to, like B&M for example.

I seem to recall someone saying they got a P38 cooler for $250. (I could be wrong, its late), but a new B&M kit, including hoses, is around $200.00.
Seems rated to 200psi....just not sure how it compares in size...and of course, how I would mount it.

Same for Derale coolers from the US. COmplete with hoses, electric fan (reversible), for about 380.00

    Dug up an old thread.

I ripped the end of my cooler trying to get the stupid factory lines off. I think I am going to get some screw on ones made for the new cooler before I fit them.

It has been suggested that I could just connect the old hoses with some hose and clamps while I hunt down the replacement. I won't be towing but will be crossing over the Mountains from Port to Tamworth and Back this week. Considering the fluid is new and will be draining it a bit when I find my replacement do you think this would do any damage? My only thought is will it go into Limp mode when the temp senser doesn't have anything to plug into?

how did you all go with your P38 coolers?

I am also thinking about upgrading the trranny to the HP24 internals in the near future.

    Cheers

    Matt

Also just had a look on the Rave disc. the P38 looks huge. where do you connect the Tranny fluid temp sensor?

    Matt,
you need to use a P38 sensor it screws onto one of the end tanks (reads the temp of the metal does not touch the oil) & has the same harness conection.

    Neat.

I have seen a couple different ones. What is the model P38 that you use? as in Engine size? do they go in and out the same end?

    cheers

Very interested where this is leading, have a mate with heating issues at the moment, metal fragments internally in the cooler, this would be from previous auto probs and the cooler was not replaced.
