    Question Import Bilstein shocks from USA

    I am looking to replace the OE springs and shocks on my 2003 TD5 D2a as they getting a bit tired (120,000kms). Am looking to go King Springs (standard height) with Bilstein shocks (BE5-6046_H0 & BE5-6047-H0). The couple of Sydney based Bilstein suppliers I have spoken to want about $250 each for Bilsteins (approx $1000 all up for 4) but I can get them for approx $550AU delivered from the USA from eshocks etc.

    The AU Bilstein distributor said that they get them specifically valved for Australia. Does anyone know how different the USA spec Bilsteins are?

    Has anyone else sourced shocks from eshocks or one of the other USA online suspension shops?? How was the experience??

    I would consider Konis as well but the cheapest price I have got is $300 each.

    Not sure with the land rover parts but when I had my Mazda 3 I imported shocks and springs from America and there was absolutely no difference, they went in and worked fine.

    So would expect the same for land rover?

    A few people have got Bilsteins from the USA on here, i'm pretty sure they got them through the Shock warehouse, and as far as i know you can get your shocks valved to whatever you want before they send them

    Thanks Long stroke, I have had a look at the Shockwarehouse site also and have asked them for a shipping quote. I hadn't considered that I could get them specifically valved if required though.

    Can anyone put forward a typical rating (valving) for OZ conditions? If will be using Kings std height Heavy Duty springs (KRFS-06 front, KRRS-04 rear).
    The D2 runs largely empty most of the time but when in camping mode with the family, usually tows a camper trailer so does not carry really heavy loads onboard.

    There was a link in a post here only a few days ago i think regarding Bilstein shocks according to model and it did offer an extended length with the part number but I cant find it now. Thought I actually saved it but its not there....

    Wish I could find it as I'm looking for lift kits for the D2a.

    Hate it when I dont do something I thought I did....

    Found the part numbers, BE5B994 and BE5B995 but cant find the damn link!!!!

    I bought some 10" 5150 piggyback resevoir Bilsteins from Shock Warehouse for my RRC last year. Easy transaction, heaps cheaper than in Oz, arrived in about 10 days.

    Do the standard sized shocks suit a 2" lift also, or just the standard sheight suspension?

    From what I have read in other threads, standard length shocks will do up to about 30-40mm lift. After that, extended length shocks will be required.

    The Bilstein shocks quoted in my original post are standard length shocks, as I am replacing my springs with std height springs as I do not need the lift and do not want to compromise entry to my garage, parking stations etc. I have seen part numbers for extended length shocks quoted in other threads.
