    Nanocom DHL delivery woes

Hi all. I bought a Nanocom about 3 weeks ago, and paid for the fastest delivery via DHL. The guys at Nanocom did their bit and dispatched quickly etc, so no problems with them.

It all fell apart in DHLs hands. Delays in quarantine in Abu Dhabi for a day, then delays in quarantine for 3 days in Melbourne. A couple of phone calls and they tell me that they Customs require and import license! I basically nicely told them that was crap, as there are lots of imports of this device, and no one else requires an import license. I was then immediately told that they had seen that the goods had been released from Customs, and would be delivered.

The goods were delivered to me.

Fine and good, apart from the fact that I just received an invoice from DHL for $65 for "quarantine entry fee", sent AFTER the goods were delivered! What the heck is this for? Has anyone else seen this? I'm inclined to ring them and tell them to stick it up their left nostril...!
    Regards, Will

    Nanocom DHL delivery woes

I paid $55 IIRC when importing some camera support gear from the US. No way around it unfortunately. No pay = no release of package.

Thanks Brad. I have edited my original post to show that the goods were released to be with no additional charge. The invoice has appeared AFTER this, and out of the blue. Seems they try it on a lot of people... heads up - DHL Scam

AQIS have/had a statement on their site specifically about this, so have a read.

They reckon it should be $18.

Exactly right Philip, here is the link to their statement:
Air Express Carrier Fees - Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
Interesting that they acknowledge that "Your carrier may invoice you to cover the AQIS costs, plus their own administration charges (often described on their invoices as a ‘Quarantine Processing Fee’)" So basically they know that companies are charging exhorbitant loading on their base fee.

    Nano freight

I did not pay anything when mine was delivered new. I did have to send it backand DHL wanted $165.00 to sent it back. I protested and they told me I didn't have an account that was why. I posted it via Aust post for $46.00 took a bit longer but still got there. Both times on return I have had to pay no more.

    Hi,

I've just wasted a few hours of my life trying to find out why my Nanocom is being held in Quarantine!! Apparently the documentation describes it as "Diagnostic equipment" and Quarantine need confirmation that it is for only for Automotive use and nothing Biological

As i know you now also know MikeTildsley, you absolutelty could not ask anyone to do anything more than BBS already already freely does to avoid this kind of problem.

As you know we provided an absolute declaration of exactly what the goods are and that sometimes you get local customs officers that cannot or will not read as opposed to those that can and will, hence Joel0407 stating
Mine arrived in just over a week.
is clearly well beyond our control.

Noting that it is not normally actually Customs or Quarantine Officers who do these inspections - they are authorised DHL and other companies staff. It is part of the DHL scam.

If this was not a scam then all other courier companies would be charging after the event for quarantine inspections.

How many people have received similar invoices for courier type items from TNT, UPS etc, non that I can recall - just from DHL.

I now tell my suppliers not to use DHL if possible but then I have not actually had an issue with them.
