I remember when the Suzuki JB74 Jimnys 1st came out that they were supposed to sell in the $25>$30k range (a fair price point) but since they were so popular that the price has jumped up to near $40k!! That's way too much for their size, etc...

Nope. That would be FIAT in 1969! I don't have brand loyalty, but I do have car loyalty. All my Falcons have been pretty good, for what they were. Never let me down is all I'll say. But I won't get another Ford. They don't make anything I'd want If I was in the market purely for reliability I'd choose Subaru or Honda. If I followed my heart i'd get a Ferrari.... Well, probably not these days, but I always wanted one. Struggle to get in and out, probably.
I never said that other manufacturers didn't have problems. I just get a little tired of Toyota's free advertising by everyone telling me they are indestructible. They are not. The US recall is, yes, petrol engines, and if you read the documents Toyota have not admitted anything, the recall is issued by the NHTSA as a safety recall. It is the second recall of the same cars in two years. Toyota cite "machining debris" in the engines causing bearing failure. Yeah, right. Two different plants build these engines, one in the US and one in Japan. And 'Yota have stated they are working on an improved bearing design.
They all make mistakes. A car is a very complex combination of different pieces of engineering. 'Yota is fallible, just like everyone else, and people need to admit it.

As for "In the subject vehicles, an engine stall while driving leads to a loss of motive power. A vehicle loss of
motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash",i still cannot work out how JLR got away with the Ford TDV6 issues.
Surely when a crank breaks the same happens?
Maybe not[biggrin]
I know the diesel was not in the US,but there have been recalls here and in other countries such as the UK for the same sort of "safety issue"

Here are 10 reviews of the Grenadiers that went on the Cape trip from John Canny's youtube.
Who is this John Canny? His production seems very amateurish, but trying hard to look professional.
John Canny is a member of the Grenadier Club and put up the infamous video of one blowing up in the Cape.
