Hello Rambling Boy,
Australia flew the de Havilland DH.100 Vampire Jet. There was one on a plinth in the CWA park in Tamworth for decades. It has since been removed and underwent a restoration. It was going to be reinstalled at Tamworth Airport.

From the same RAAF Museum source here is a bit that mentions two other planes ...
"... In the event, Gloster Meteors were obtained in 1951 for service with No 77 Squadron in the Korean War. Then, in May of the same year, plans were finalised for CAC to build a locally-redesigned version of the North American F-86F Sabre swept-wing fighter."

I am not sure who owned what, as Malaysian and Singapore AF also flew around there. We mostly saw Mirages with the occasional Phantom, and iirc, Sabres were reasonably common. The Meteors and Vampires not so common.
I had a look. What I can see from here (Small Air Forces Discussion Group - Gloster Meteor in Malaysian AF) is that Malaysia AF had one Meteor only. I don't know about Singapore and I think Oz had got away from Meteors by then. As for where the Vampire come from, who knows.

My Wife's sister & her husband were stationed (husband) at Butterworth in the late seventies,...it was a pretty good place to be I'm told.
Pickles.
NASA still fly 3 Canberra's, as do a few others.
Ok, I did a little more research and found this on wikipedia;
With the formation of the Malaysian Federation on 16 September 1963, the name of the force was changed to "Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia" or "Royal Malaysian Air Force". New types introduced into service included the Handley Page Herald transport and the De Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou. TUDM received Sikorsky S-61A-4 helicopters in the late 16 and early seventies which were used in the transport role. TUDM gained an air defence capability when the Australian Government donated 10 ex-Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) CAC Sabre fighters. These were based at the Butterworth Air Base. After the withdrawal of British military forces from Malaysia and Singapore at the end of 1971, a five-nation agreement between Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom was concluded to ensure defence against external aggression. The RAAF maintained two Mirage IIIO squadrons at the Butterworth Air Base as part of its commitment to the Five Power Defence Arrangements. These squadrons were withdrawn in 1986, although occasional deployments of RAAF aircraft continue.

So it seems as though there could be up to 5 nation's planes flying around Penang Island at the time.
The RAAF was still using Vampires up until 1971 but only as trainers. It may be possible that some of these were given to Malaysia similar to the Sabres?

That's about as much as I know
Cheers,
Tom.
