How do you guys get such a good photo of the moon. I was up at Lake Eyre (Muloorina) during the eclipse, and after several attempts to get a good photo I gave up. I need some "technical" advice.

Generally you need to change your shutter speed to about 250, most standard settings are around 100 and are too slow allowing to much light in. The moon is actually very bright. I use 250-320 shutter speed. The F Stop can also be set up to around 8.6.

I was prompted by this thread to rush outside with the hastily tripod mounted camera and the remote trigger and fluked a couple of OK shots. If I'd had time i might have set it up slightly better.

The RAW image was fiddled with software in the virtual darkroom: the contrast and brightness and some sharpening was done it was then cropped and posted. As much as can be done in the eleven minutes between taking it and posting.

You're a better man than I am Gungadin.

Now this is a shot of the eclipse:

I wish I had taken that....and had the gear and the skill to take it.

That is nice. Any idea what they used??
Looking at buying my daughter a decent telescope that we can hook the Canon up to.
Only reason I did not use a tripod was I did not have it with us.

The photo was taken by Bill Christie.

His site including details of equipment he uses is here:

I guess that the photo was taken with this rig:
