Ah. Shades of 1969. Holden with 8 of the first 10 places.

Yes, I know it is a silhouette series with just about bugger all of the cars made by Holden or Ford but I can't help myself.

I would much prefer a return to Series Prod. racing by price class with a minimum number required to be sold at retail over the preceding 12 months, and the model to be available to all from any dealership.

Plenty of room for interpretive engineering in Series Prod. rule books. My EH 149 was dynoing 160 hp @ 6200 in a Showroom Stock class, 1966. Known as The Smoky Yunick School of Race Car Preparation.

Was an impressive crash. I was patrolling the pubs in town last night and Holden Motorsport booked one of the pubs out for their private function. Had a chat with Fabian whilst we were getting them all in a taxi at the end of the night. He said he felt fine, i would have thought he'd be stiff and sore but he reckoned he felt great, just goes to show the safety thats built into these cars.

Nathan Pretty and a few of the others thought it was cool that Cst Holden was patroling the pub in bathurst after holden won LOL

Yeah, im still buggered. Got up at midday on Saturday, went to the track to see the top 10 shoot out, worked Saturday night, went home at 7am sunday, slept till 11am, got to track and watch the race, missed the first few laps, get home, have a shower and work till 7am this morning.

Meeting the drivers at the Holden dinner was cool. Did a walk thru of the hotel and was talking to the manager and I turn to my left and Jason Bright is standing next to me. Had a quick chat with Lowndes aswell.

Was standing out the front getting rid of all the hanger onners and Tony Cochrane walked out of the pub and asked us to call him get him a taxi. had a good chat with him whilst waiting for the taxi, he is a really nice bloke.

I know you dont like him, im not a big fan of some of the things he has done for the sport, but he has put V8's on the map and that isnt a bad thing, its a pitty it was at the expense of some of the lower level categories.

I love Bathurst. Iwent up there nine times from 1975 to 1986. We used to leave Melb Mon night after work towing a tamden trailer full of scaffolding. We would drive all night and arrive Tues morning.

Back then practice used to start on wednesday and this was the day they manned the gates to start charging to get in.

As we got there on Tuesday we got in for free. We would then go into town and get all our supplies and a trip to "Vinnies" to buy a couple of old lounge suites which would go on the camp fire Sunday night.

When we arrived in 1985 they had a ban on scaffolding due to an accident the previous year so we never went back. Have not missed it on telly though.

A few years ago the phone rang at home about 30 seconds before the race was to start and I answered it with "This better be important" with a grumpy voice.

great photo dave, my first trip to the mount would have been around 1985-86 when I was around 5 years old, dad took me up pretty much every year after that until I was old enough to get myself up there. I broke the tradition of getting there every year in 1999 when CSU disgracefully put the exam fortnight smack bang on race weekend so had to concentrate on exams instead. That was when the race was in november for a couple of years, missed 2000 aswell. Went in 01, missed 02 then went in 03 and 04 and have watched it on telly since 04 until this year.

There is alot of tradition up on that mountain, blokes who have been coming to the same camp spot for 40yrs or more. Alot of things have been banned aswell, Sofa's are a no no now, because people burnt them at the end, and they have banned the ride on lawn mower esky trains which I think its a bit low.
