    We survived.
That's not really a valid argument is it! In the grand scheme of things it was only a few years ago when we didn't have cars, or electricity, or a myriad of other stuff and we also survived!

    Phone blocker

Does someone make a blocker to jam i-pods? They would be very popular on the trains.

Many, many years ago, I made one to block transistor radios on trains. I built a small tuneable RF oscillator into a cigarette packet (so that it wasn't obvious) and would tune it to the station (if the person was listening to it at a very loud volume).

These days some people have their iPods running so loudly you can hear them through their earphones.

One wouldn't use it to do a blanket suppression, merely on those who must let the world listen in to their conversation. Switch it on long enough to kill the call.

I've been on trips where a girl (it's always a girl) near me has spent the whole hour on the train on one call. Yes, I like hearing about your sex life and would like to join in. You know I'm jealous.

I thought a tampon and a big brown paper bag with "SHUT THE **** UP" conveniently placed on her head was invented for this exact purpose.......
