    Residential security system - Brisbane

Burgled yesterday, insurance paperwork today, new alarm system ASAP.

Can anyone recommend an alarm system installer in the Brisbane area? Southside preferably but not critical.

    Cheers.

While you at it....leave the fluffy poodlabracharles****zu as the family pet and get a real dog for outside....like this one...young Maximus

Maybe I'm just lucky...but always had shepherds...lived in all area's.....never a peep of a break in. If someone tried to kick him they better have health insurance .

I remember when I lost Benz and we lived half way up a mountain.......normally as soon as a car hit the bottom of the drive way.....Benz would know about it. When I lost him......I or the family didn't feel as protected. Plus when he barked we and neighbours knew he was barking for a reason...ditto with Max. Whereas the stoopid retriever will bark at leaves blowing in the wind....... So just saying

    Regards

I read your other post about your break in I would be asking:

Are you gonna get something that just makes a lot of noise or are you looking for a monitored one?

I cant see the point in wasting money on some company to monitor you alarm from another city.

Spend the money on boosting your security with stronger doors, windows, locks and screens. A skilled lowlife can be in and out of a poorly secured house long before the alarm brings any attention.

Get a bunch of mates over and challenge them to break into your house and look at finding the weak spots. If a particular door or window is the problem then fix it.

Unfortunately the sad truth is that you just need to make your house harder to break into then the neighbours house. Thats what these scumbags look at.

I'm with Stevo There's not much out there that beats a good mate - a dog.

The Defender was broken into recently - a couple of grand of stuff taken - and guess what - our beloved Blue Heeler had unfortunately passed away about 18 months ago. It would never have happened on "Patch's Watch".

Further to that incident - the cops picked up a "young lad" in the area - he actually had several sheets of paper with the addresses of all the homes that HAD A DOG IN THE YARD!!!!

Apparently the older lads had sent their younger "bruthers-mate" around the area supposedly selling raffle tickets whilst checking out whether a dog was in the house or yard!

I have organised a new addition to our family - and she was born 11.35pm on Monday night - a female puppy! A Blue Heeler/Red Heeler cross and I'm looking forward to mid/late July when I bring her home

Sorry about hijacking the thread with my commentary on my pup

Thanks Guys. The house is pretty well secured with security screens, triple locking doors, fences, barking dog, sensor lights and nosey neighbours.

The problem is of course that on a weekday after 9 AM they've got all the time in the world to ripe out (by brute force) a security grill, climb inside, force the back door for their mates, etc.

The police and crime scene tech were great and both said that while an alarm system won't keep them out, it will minimise the time they're inside and therefore what they steal.

My main reason for the alarm is that my boys are the last to leave and the first to get home. She and me would be happier if there's an alarm that tells them someone is in or has been in the house, before they enter. They can then just call me or go to a neighbours. I may even spring for the alarm that SMS' me with the alerts.

As for a bigger, uglier dog; it'll never fly with SWMBO and this IS the first time this has ever happened to us in our 19 years in this area.

    Mate,

Sorry to hear about your situation....

Having been robbed before, it is a horrible, intrusive feeling.

Since fitting an alarm, I've had one failed break in attempt.....never even got through the window they forced....as they heard the beeps and ran for it!

    Just sent you a PM.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Hi mate and sorry to here about your burglary anyway, I use to have a security alarm installation business and if you think your up to it, you could install a system yourself and save heaps.

If you want to do it yourself, I’d be happy to talk you through it.
