Then what will the government do, throw ALL of us in jail? It is just like our troops in Afganastan, shouldn't it be up to the Australian people to decide wether they should be over there or not? Tragic waste on all counts. I'm over hearing about the "soaring" cost of living be it electricity prices or bloody banannas!! Local councils are another example of patheticness (is that a word?) Always crying poor and saying that rate rises are necessary to maintain infrastructure then they spend hundreds of thousands on a bloody art gallery!!!!

Hey Robbo. don't hold back, tell us what you really think!!! Actually, I reckon this Carbon Tax is a sneaky way to raise the GST. Do you think the large companies that have to pay this tax are just going to absorb the costs?? I don't, they will pass the costs down to the poor mug in the street!!!

    What a crock!

Didn't you hear our illustrious treasurer tell us 2 weeks ago that under a price on carbon we will all have MORE money in our pockets every week and we'll all be better off !! ?? ....

.... if it looks like fish, if it smells like fish ...

Given the quality of brisbane roads....

they might as well drop the tax on the fuel for road maintenance and stop doing whatever it is that they claim they're doing as road maintenance.

Except I have no lawn, everyone wants all the facilities yet not prepared to pay for them. Good thing you have resource rich states to prop you up then!

It's not that we are not prepared to pay for them, more so that we object to paying for them over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over again !

I'm more than happy to pay my fair share .... get it ? Fair share ...

There's nothing fair about what is going on at the moment. Period!

They need to use the same rule as in France... Only tolls for sections of motorway where motorists have a choice of a highway standard free limited access road. And we are still a looooong way from having an acceptable highway standard road for large sections of the Pacific & most of the Bruce highway routes. It's the government's obligation firstly to make ALL roads safe. Tolls should then only be levied on motorways that make travel shorter or quicker than a pre-existing route.

Interesting to see that the goverment can afford to give $ 16 million to the 'new' country of South Sudan as a gesture of good will.

So thats about 16kms of highway accounted for! Assuming you are not doing any bridges then you start to spend proper money.

The pollies are selling off all OUR public assets and then making us pay fees and tolls to the often foreign owned companies who now own them and then taxing us more on everything else that remains. If the various utilities and services are privately owned then the maintenance of those "assets"s rests with the ownersop and is paid for by the fees and tolls. I wonder where else all the tax dough is going apart from on overseas junkets, hire cars, ridiculously overpriced "consultants aka jobs for the boys", flowers for the office ($100,000courtesy of Quentin Bryce), etc.
