So the new engine is still a Transit engine?
Gears? Good point. I like the XJR1300 'cos it will pull from any gear but the the 650 Strom needs the 6-speed box to be worked.
I think a shorty SIII would be as good as a 90 - and much cheaper.
The downside of getting a 90 is that wife says the P38A would have to go. The trouble is I'd get nothing for it - certainly nothing like what was spent on the engine rebuild. A perfect buy for D2 owner wanting a worked 4.6.

i think somebody had a few glasses of red and had a nice dream
My wife just laughed and said "Not true!"
I was at KLR Auto this morning and mentioned it. I was then informed of a yellow D90 Td5 Xtreme that has just been traded. I was given an approximate price. I'm awaiting info on km and actual price.
I think it's the one I delivered from the dealer a few years back.

Ron, those 90's are really a beaut looking thingy.
If the MR Automotive Auto transmission kit fits the new 2.2, keep
the P38 and also buy the new 90.
Why sell the P38, like my Disco, I would never get the money spent
back and besides I would never part with it anyway.
These things are keepers.
Imagine a new 90 with an auto box. Crikey.
Cheers.
Robert.
As much as I'd love to keep it, we already have 5 motor vehicles to register and insure and I don't drive the P38A that much and ride the motorbikes even less.

The Puny has a much nicer dash setup, better seats(?) and better AC. All of that may be worth the extra $13 k or so for a new one???
I would prefer the Td5 over the 2.2 though, however both go well when chipped, and the 6-speed is nice to drive.
Plus - given your habit of buying faulty merchandise, you may really need a warranty!
When the warranty runs out you can always have a TDV6 conversion done...
