The problem is that the stupidity that ends up in some regulation has the most adverse effects on other people.

Some brands,Daikin as an example, with the smaller wall splits, the Active and Neutral for the interconnects go into the same terminals as the mains coming in to the outdoor.

We often see them with 1mm interconnects, with 2.5 coming in on a 20A breaker, going into the same terminals.

Earth to earth, active to active, neutral to neutral, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

No specs in the bible for wire sizes

Yep, just put in 2 x 2.5KW units in the bedrooms and they were like that - amazed that anyone thinks that they can break gauge and downsize the wiring. A 2.5mm interconnect isn’t exactly difficult to do, so not sure why they don’t do it.

All the time I protect the interlink if required, recently I changed a heap of breakers in a building and deleted a heap of inline fuses as they were blowing .
From my reading of AS3000 we can't achieve the earthing requirements for a dcurve breaker when we straight swap one in an existing situation.
4bee it wasn't up to me I disconnected took the money and left never been there since.

Yes,and when one tries to explain to them how it should be done, they have no idea WTF you are talking about.

I thought that sort of thing is basics for the trade, but maybe not, what would i know, just a dumb Fridgie

Could be all about $,they dont want to pay a few cents for 2.5mm cable.

Anyway, the rules associated with other trades doing AC work change here(Qld) from 1/1/22,so its going to be interesting to see what happens.

You really think the Cowboys will give a flying ****? Nope, it will be business as usual for them.

But but but, they weren't going to use Rated Ratchet Straps on Paul's installation & leave them behind for some other non-descript to steal. Would you? I wouldn't.

Correct. Those that don’t are about current regs sure as **** won’t care when they change.

I think the whole Fridgy v Sparkie thing is silly at the bottom end of things anyway - ie splits - both trades are more than capable (well the vast majority) of doing both sides of the installation. Having 2 trades to install a split is ridiculous.

Might have been guilty of doing my own and families splits and they all still work. One for the fridgies
