Terrible news, sorry to hear it. I lost my Dad (my best mate) to a spinal/ Brain Stem tumor in November last year, sat with him and held his hand for 24hrs straight, no sleep. I had to get something to eat and went to the shops up the street, was gone for 30 minutes and he passed away whilst I was out. I was devastated and still struggle with it . Go see him, sit with him, reminisce, laugh and just talk. Let him know he's not alone. That's what true mates are all about.

    Good Luck
    Cheers Ian

Dad got spinal cancer about five years ago. Just couldn't stand up one day.
To hospital. Nothing to be done. Lasted a week and a half.
Spent time with him, assuring him that I would take care of things.
Fast run to Pennsylvania to get his eldest grandson from university. Dad passed before we got back.

    You do what you can.

I thought as I grew older that I had a pretty good grasp of the onsets that aging brings with it. What I never prepared for was losing every aunty, uncle, older relative and older friends and acquaintances that I knew.....and so high a proportion of them to cancer.....one of my best mates, his father, and my other best mate's father gone before their 3 score + 10.....devastates you a bit and my best thoughts go out to everyone in the same boat.

    Hey everyone,
I'm a volunteer with the Cancer Council NSW. They have Australia wide help lines for all information relating to Cancer and Tumors. 13 11 20
Give them a call if you need an explanation on any cancer or need someone just to talk with.
They are online at Home | Cancer Council NSW

They fund research and community awareness to the turn of 63 million a year and thats just in NSW, so go on and give them a call or drop into a CC centre.

    Cheers

Deb and I went up to see Julian today, our son whom grew up with Julian in his life met up with us there.
Julian lost the plot for a short time when we met,he told me Im sorry you have to see me like this.Anyhow he was in much better spirits than I expected, thanks for a hefty dose of morphine when we got there.
He lost 30kg in 3 weeks when he got sick,he does look like an old man.
Anyhow,we enjoyed 3 or 4 hours of great chat remembering the good times and filling them in on what their Quindanning/Williams friends they also lost contact are up too.
In the end it all got too much and Julian had to load up with morphine and have a rest.
I will be taking next friday off to get my tax done and catch up again, really enjoyed the chat even though he found it very difficult to remain on the same channel, his mrs warned me,its the morphine.
